DOESN'T AGEING IN PLACE MEAN AGEING IN COMMUNITY?
Difficult to achieve when many of our houses in Australia are single-purpose houses within single-purpose neighbourhoods.
If neighbourhoods contain homes that are solely -
1. Larger for families, or
2. Smaller for downsizers, or
3. Accessible for people living with a disability, or
4. For people over 50, or
5. Presumably, people under 50, or......
6. For care purposes....
etc
....then we must leave our community when we have a change in our physical or cognitive capacity. This isn't ageing in place.....this is ageing in ANOTHER place....
Let's have more inclusive & diverse housing in more inclusive & diverse neighbourhoods & give people the option to age in THEIR place, rather than the mandate to age in ANOTHER place.
